Edward Davidson AKA Spam King, was convicted of  illegal spamming over the Internet back in June 2007 and was sentenced to 21 months in prison.  After serving just a few months, Edward escaped prison and went to his wife’s house and shot and killed his wife and  child.  When the police showed up at the residence they found 3 bodies, wife, child, and Edward himself, they are ruling it a murder suicide.  No one really knows for sure why Edward decided to do what he did, in addition , with little evidence we may never know. 

Davidson was being investigated by the FBI  for spamming for over a year, before they charged him with anything.  Edward was sending thousands of unsolicited commercial electronic messages (spamming) to companies each day.  He had a  network of fellow spammers who helped him do this on a daily basis.  He was promoting products such as watches, perfumes and other products.   Edward had a large network set up and he was operating this whole thing from his residence in Colorado.  He had servers and computers set up right in his house, it was a unique set up to find in a home.  Edward had 19 different companies that he was working for at the time of his arrest. 

Spamming is a major concern on the Internet as well as Internet Fraud.  With new up to date technology coming out it is becoming easier to catch and even prevent these type of things that are going on, on the Internet.  There are also upgrades in the Online  Software that the  being used to prevent spammers and in addition the penalties are getting stiffer and as you can see the FBI is not letting this slide.  There are many spammers that are currently doing time and there will always be someone out there who thinks that they can beat the system. All we can do is try and keep them from being successful.

In closing the one good thing that happened at Edwards house that sad day was his oldest daughter was shot but survived and his other young son was not hurt at all.  As was stated before, we don’t know what was going on in Edwards head the day of the murders, we can only imagine that he could not bear to be without his family and now he never will.  Our hearts and prayers go out to the survivors in his family.

There is also a very big issue with Online Gambling and that is underage gambling. Warren Cloud, a 34 year old Online Casino pioneer suffered a massive heart attack while he was on his yacht and passed away due to complications.  Warren was well known for successfully operating more than 10 casinos, and his net worth was estimated at 1 Billion U.S. Dollars.  There are many unanswered question about his recent death.  He was on his yacht just outside the famous Island of Ibiza, Spain.  He was also well known for his part in making the Online Casino Software  “RealTime”  the most popular around.

Back in 2006 Congress passed a new bill (UIGEA) Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, most people think that this bill makes online gambling illegal, however, it actually only requires banks in the United States to decline any money transactions that are going to online casinos.  Many members of the US Treasury as well as members from the American Bankers Association are expressing the need to dissolve this bill because of the many flaws it has and also how it is unenforceable.

The head of the Federal Reserves Bank stated that the (UIEGA) 2006 is way to vague and impossible to enforce.  How are we supposed to be able to tell the difference between legal and illegal bank transactions when currently there are many legal online casinos that are still allowed to accept money from banks/online gamblers.  The (UIGEA) 2006 does not describe nor does it explain what, when, who specifically is not allowed to receive money from. This bill should of never been passed and needs to be dissolved or at least looked at.
