Poker Players Alliance
The Poker Player Alliance has over 1 Million poker members and is a very powerful non-profit organization. The organization consist of poker players all over the United States who’s main goal is to protect the rights of all Poker Players in the United States. The attitude of the members in this group is pretty much like any non-profit organization, they just want their voice to be heard because they feel that they are getting a raw deal. If you watch the video that they have available for anyone to watch on their web site, the census is that the government is taking another right away from us Americans. They just want to play Poker.
The video on the website is short and sweet, there are four or five members of (PPA) on the video and they are pretty much just telling you how they feel about the laws that prevent them from playing online poker, or any gambling at all on the internet. They make a couple of great points and if you have not been following what has been going on in the online gambling news recently, they are talking about the new laws that have come into effect that make it illegal to do any type of online gambling.
Another Hot Topic that is rolling around in the (PPA) is the fact that if Presidential Candidate Barack Obama does become President that he is going to pass a law that allows each state to make the choice whether or not it is legal or illegal to gamble online. Congress which is currently controlled by the Democrats could pass a law to make online gambling legal now, however, President George W. Bush, who is a Republican, would just simply veto it. This is why the (PPA) is waiting , hoping Obama wins the upcoming election.
The Poker Players Alliance is currently working with Congress to pass a bill that allows the people of the United States to legally gamble online. They, (PPA) just want Internet Poker to be licensed and regulated and once this happens you know that the government will make some money in the deal. The people just dont want it be illegal, there are bigger fish to fry, just regulate it, tax it, and let it grow. Online Poker is already a multi- million dollar industry so why not legalized it, lt people spend their money the way they want to, and everyone will be happy.
