Today on Capital Hill a bill was passed that prevents  people from purchasing lottery tickets online.  Before today, people could simply go to their computer and purchase their lottery tickets.  Most of the lottery money feeds the state school systems. With this being said Capital Hill is now taking away from our children. Is this the right thing to do?  The government has  so many different things to worry about in today’s world, why is it they feel the need to take from the kids?

Banks have the job of trying to figure out which gambling sites are legal and which one’s are not.  The problem here is that the banks are not qualified to do this.  So the governments solution to this was to just cut all Internet gambling deposits out of the equation.  Unfortunately this is what is going to hurt the kids in the long run.  This bill might get overturned in the future, however, in the mean time our schools lose funding.  If you remember the Florida lottery was designed Solly to help with the financing of public schools.

Weeding out the illegal online gambling sites now becomes the job of the consumers.  The government agrees that the schools funding is worth protecting, however, we the consumer have to figure out where to put our money.  Another negative aspect of what has happened today in Capital Hill is the bank are going to be way more st-rick on who they accept money from.  In Las Vegas where gambling is legal will also be affected because the banks there as well have been affected by this vote as well. 

The bottom line is this, where are we as citizens of the United States going to draw the line as far as the government controlling what we do on a daily basis.  Are we ever going to stand up to the man..  Lets start here. Lets all write congress and tell them how we feel. This is outrageous, and we should not tolerate this. All these band aids we come up with for problems are going to some day fall off and then we will be in deeper then before.  One day we are going to wake up and we all will have a bar code on are foreheads.  Is that extreme? or is it Biblical? lol Have a great day.

Poker players all around the U.S. are hoping that Obama is going to pass a new law that allows Online Gambling in the U.S.  The on;y way to insure that this law passes is to first get Obama elected as president.  Obama has admitted to being a card player, he has stated in the past that he would rather have the U.S. regulate the Online Casinos than make people criminals because they participate in it.  Poker players at the World Series of Poker are hoping that the law changes soon and they believe that Barack Obama is the man to do it.

Obama is currently leading over McCain in most projections for the presidency, so most of the Professional Gambling Players for the World Series are not worried. The Professional Poker players have made mention that if Obama runs his presidency the way he plays poker, they will sleep good at night.  It has also been said that when Obama does become president the Online Casino market will explode and people all around the U.S. will get to see how much fun and how much money can be made because Online Gambling is now legal.

On October 13, 2006 president George W. Bush signed the SAFE Port Act, which has changed the way the government regulates gambling. It used to be each state controlled  what the rules where. Since the bill was passed now the government regulates it. Well because the Congress is controlled by the Democrats they could squeeze a bill through the Senate, however, Bush would veto it. So we just have to wait for Obama to be there to let it fly.

Assuming Obama is nominated and wins, the Democrats will keep control of Congress and there will be a change in federal law.   It probably won’t take affect until 2010, or even later.  The law will go back to allowing the states to decide. If a state wants to allow the residents to bet online, then they can.  This is how horse racing exist today.  So if you want to gamble online, vote for Obama.

David Singer,  an expecting father was playing Poker in the World Series of Poker in June 08′ when he told his wife, if she went into labor during the tournament, he would stop playing and drive her to the hospital.  After all, he was her Lamaze coach and all his friends were betting that she would go into labor that day. Well, Dave did finish the tournament and won $214,122 by winning  the $1,500 buy in-pot limit hold’em event.

Singer is a former law attorney from Brooklyn, N.Y. who now lives in Las Vegas.  After the birth of his new baby he sent a picture of his new baby to the nurse at the hospital because she is a Poker fan and recognized him from the televised tournament.  A week after his son was born, Singer was back at the tournament room inside the Rio. 

He cashed out in 58th place in a $5,000 buy in a limit  event, winning  a total of $10,650. A few days later he won $12,641 with a $3,000 buy in.  Singers run at the World Series of Poker has listed him among the top 5  in the tournaments power rankings, which could lead to additional money down the road for him.

Singer plans on staying focus on his family, however, this is his job right now.  He plays Poker because he has bills like every one else does. He knows that family comes first and he plans on taking his family on vacation as soon as his newborn son gets old enough to fly overseas.  Singer enjoys playing Poker and says that when he reaches his goal of 5 million he will retire.  Singer currently has won more than 1.3 million dollars since his very first tournament.

Atlantic City Is currently involved in a  debate as far as smoking inside casinos. Donald Trump in a interview last week made the comment that he is against smoking in general, however, because he owns a casino , he said that he wishes this new law does not go into affect.  Mr. Trump mentioned in his interview that if the new law were to pass that he would lose millions in revenue on a monthly basis.  Mr. Trump also stated that more than half of his guest that do stay in his hotels as well as his casinos are smokers and he is siding with them.

Smoking is permitted in Philadelphia’s casinos  as well as New Jersey, so Donald is asking all of the other casino  owners to sue over the smoking ban.  Mr. Trump is not a smoker, however he is a great businessman and when he see’s that something is going to affect his profits he will speak up.  Donald Trump is definitely known for his hit TV. show as well as many of his business ventures.

Tom Myers of All Star Casinos made mention in an interview that the smoking ban will cause his gambling revenue to drop 30% and his alcohol consumption % will drop more than that. In Washington 6 casinos have closed their doors already due to revenue loss.  Ironically some local youth sports , soccer, swimming and baseball actually get their funding from Bingo and other gambling taxes.  So as you can see, in the long run this smoking ban will even hurt the kids.
